Nothing special. With the high ratings, I wanted to give this spot a try. Upon arrival it was quite crowded as it was 10am on Sunday. After waiting about 15 minutes or so for a table for two our server took off briskly to the dining area, I say briskly because at one point I thought I lost her she was walking so fast. Once seated we were given 3 menus and 1 special menu, which was odd but probably a mistake. Started off with two coffees and waters, the coffee to me wasn't very strong and a little watery but wasn't bad or anything. A few minutes later a server was aimlessly wondering around the dining area with our waters but we flagged her down to help her find us. My date ordered the western omelette and potato casserole. I got the country fried steak w/eggs (over easy), hash browns and a side of bacon. The dining area was very tight as my chair kept getting bumped by everyone that passes because they literately have squeezed as many tables in to the area as they could. About 20 minutes later our meal arrived. There really wasn't anything special about the food, the omelette was a little undercooked and watery but the potato casserole was pretty tasty and probably the highlight. The country fried steak was average, except for the gravy being a little cold for my liking. The has browns were way overcooked, crunchy and dry almost like it baked under the heat lamp for 20 minutes or so and I wasn't able to eat most of them. Overall we didn't find anything really special about this place, I see that it is more of a locals hangout and people have been coming here for years but I have had much better breakfasts elsewhere in the area and didn't come close to what one could make at home. Seems to be more of a social setting for some as opposed to an eatery. The decor is eclectic and has a hunting lodge type of feeling with animal heads and fishing gear hanging on the wall. Not sure if it was because they were busy or what but didn't find anything special about the place and likely not to return.
Extensive Menu + Great Food & Service = Home Run. We recently met up with friends for breakfast at the Gun Club Café and the service and food were outstanding. It was our first time there, so our friends guided us through the menu options -- it is a rather extensive menu, so there is definitely something for everyone. We all ordered different breakfast entrees and every single plate was practically licked clean by the end of the meal. We especially recommend the shredded chicken fajita omelet and the multigrain pancakes.
Amber was our waitress. Not only was she attentive, kind, and very engaging, but she regularly checked in on us to make sure that beverages were replenished, that we had enough condiments, and that our experience was going well.
We will definitely return to the Gun Club Café the next time we are in town.
Good Breakfast. The food is always good. The service is usually good except for one time when we were invisible to all servers but will still go there from time to time.
